When you can’t use dynamic Internet links (see Section 3.0, Using Dynamic Internet Links) or direct links (see Section 4.0, Using Direct Links) to connect GroupWise systems that are located on different networks, you can use GroupWise gateways to connect the systems. An MTA in the sending GroupWise system transfers outgoing messages to the gateway, which passes the messages to a gateway in the receiving system. The receiving gateway transfers the messages to an MTA, which then routes the messages to the appropriate post offices for delivery.
The following sections present summaries of the gateway options for connecting GroupWise systems on different networks.
GroupWise 4.1 gateways work with GroupWise 4.1, 5.x, 6.x., 7, and 8. GroupWise 5.x gateways work with GroupWise 5.x, 6.x, 7, and 8. For the most current GroupWise gateway product information, contact your local Novell office.
