If you want to start Notify without opening the GroupWise window on your desktop, use the -notify startup option when starting GroupWise. See Section C.1, GroupWise Startup Options for setup instructions.
When you use the -notify option, GroupWise starts in the background with an icon on the Linux taskbar or on the Mac dock at the bottom of your screen.
Mac: Click the GroupWise icon on the dock to open the Notify window
As long as the Notify window is active, you receive notifications, regardless of whether the GroupWise Main Window is displayed or not.
Linux: Right-click the Notify icon on the Linux taskbar to display the Notify menu.
As long as the Notify icon is on the taskbar, you receive notifications, regardless of whether the GroupWise Main Window is displayed or not.

.The Notification list displays unopened items. You can read and delete them in the Notification List without opening the GroupWise Main Window.
When you are finished handling unopened items, click
.When you want to open the GroupWise Main Window:
Mac: If necessary, open the Notify window.
Linux: Right-click the Notify icon to display the Notify menu.
On the Notify menu, click
.You can now work in your GroupWise mailbox as usual.
When you no longer want the GroupWise Main Window on your desktop:
Mac: Close the GroupWise window.
The GroupWise icon on the Mac dock indicates that GroupWise is still running in the background so that you continue to receive GroupWise notifications. The Notify window is also still active.
Linux: Click
.The Notify icon remains on the Linux taskbar so that you continue to receive GroupWise notifications.
