Modifying NSS Settings

To optimize the performance, modify the following NSS settings using the system console before you start using the NFS Gateway.

• Set the BufferFlushTimer parameter = 1.

  This forces NSS to flush the buffer cache to the NFS server after one second, which is the earliest possible time.

• Set the ClosedFileCacheSize parameter based on the system memory.

  For example, if the ClosedFileCacheSize parameter value = 50,000 then the memory can hold up to 50,000 metadata of files, or directories at any point of time.

  If there are more than 50,000 entries in a directory, we recommend that the ClosedFileCacheSize parameter value be increased.
