8.14 Specifying Offline Options for Contacts

  1. Click Tools > Options. For Mac, click Preferences > Options.

  2. Click Message.

  3. Select one of the options in the Offline Contacts group box.

    Send e-mail when I start a message to an offline contact is only available in the Windows client. (When this option is selected, starting a message to an offline contact in Messenger opens an email message addressed to that contact.)

  4. Click OK.
