Use at the server console to create or modify a text file on a boot, DOS, USB, or NetWare® partition.

If you don't enter a pathname when you load EDIT, a dialog box displays where you can enter the pathname.
You can also press Insert to display a browse window from which you can select a file. To see the contents of a volume or directory, select the volume or directory name in the window and press Enter. Use the arrow keys to scroll up and down the list of files and directories. When the file you want to edit is selected, press Enter to display the file.
If the file doesn't exist, EDIT displays a prompt asking if the file should be created.
When you create a new file, the file can be no larger than 8 KB. Each time you open the file after that, you can increase the file size by up to 4 KB.
You can use EDIT to view read-only files.
EDIT is particularly useful for creating .ncf batch files that automatically execute server commands.
