The Novell Trustees Model is used to control file access for NSS volumes and NCP volumes (NCP shares on Linux POSIX file systems). As an administrator (or an administrator-equivalent user) with the Supervisor right or Access Control right, you can use the Files and Folders plug-in for iManager to manage file system trustees, trustee rights, and inherited rights filters for a file or folder on an NSS volume or NCP volume. A user who has only the Access Control right cannot modify the rights of another user who has the Supervisor right. The administrator (or administrator equivalent user) must be enabled for Linux with Linux User Management (LUM) (that is, LUM-enabled) in order to view effective rights.
The following limitations apply for effective rights management:
It is not supported to view the effective rights on non-NSS and non-NCP volumes.
It is not supported to view the soft-linked files or folders in a volume by using the Files and Folders > Properties option in iManager.
You see the primary file when rights are modified for hard linked files.
It is not supported to view the effective rights directly on the secondary volume of a DST shadow volume pair. You must use the merged view to manage effective rights for files and folders on the DST shadow volume pair. DST stores the rights settings on the primary volume and copies the settings to the secondary volume. DST applies the primary volume’s rights settings to files whether they physically reside on the primary volume or secondary volume.
Modifying rights for DFS junctions is disabled in this interface. Use DFS tasks in iManager to manage rights on DFS junctions.
