If you are using Gmail on Internet Explorer and you try to print an email, you might see garbage characters in place of line breaks. This is caused by a character encoding issue.
To work around this issue, you must change the default text encoding to UTF-8 in your Gmail settings.
Launch Internet Explorer, then go to www.gmail.com.
Sign in to Gmail with your user name and password.
Click the settings icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, then select Settings.
Under General settings, in the Outgoing message encoding section, select Use Unicode (UTF-8) encoding for outgoing messages.
Click Save Changes.
