The Server Consolidation Utility lets users schedule projects to run when it is most convenient. This means that you can create a consolidation project during the day and schedule it to run during the night when there is a smaller chance that files that are to be moved will be open and being worked on.
The Server Consolidation Utility uses the Scheduled Tasks capability built into Windows to schedule a consolidation project to run at a time that is most convenient to you.
HINT: Before scheduling a consolidation project it is recommended that you complete the verification process and resolve all errors. When you have verified the project, resolved any errors, and reached the Start Novell Server Consolidation Utility dialog box described in Start the Consolidation , then the project can be scheduled.
To schedule a project to run at a later time:
Ensure that a Server Consolidation Project has been created.
Write down the project name and path of its location for later reference.
Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
Double-click the Scheduled Tasks icon.
Double-click the Add Scheduled Task icon.
When the Scheduled Task Wizard launches, click Next.
Select the Novell NetWare Server Consolidation Utility from the list of programs provided, then click Next.
Assign the scheduled task a name, select its frequency (in most cases, the preferred choice will be One Time Only), then click Next.
Select the start time and date for the project to run, then click Next.
Enter the Windows username and password of the admin user that will perform the task, then click Next.
Verify that the time displayed for running the project is correct. If it is, check the Open Advanced Properties for This Task When I Click Finish check box, then click Finish.
After the Advanced Properties dialog box opens, click Task.
In the dialog box that opens, complete the Run: field.
The dialog box is populated with a pathname that ends in \fc.exe. The following four parameters, separated by a single space, must be added to this pathname for the scheduled consolidation project to run:
"c:\my projects\sc1.mdb" (where sc1.mdb is the saved project)
When completed, the Run: field of the Advanced Properties dialog box should look similar to this:
c:\program files\novell\netware server consolidation utility\fc.exe "c:\my projects\sc1.mdb" y test1 test2
In the previous example, c:\program files\novell\netware server consolidation utility\fc.exe is the pathname that was already in the Run: field of the dialog box, "c:\my projects\sc1.mdb" is the saved project that is scheduled to run, y is the Yes parameter to automatically run the project, test1 is the admin password on the source server, and test 2 is the admin password on the destination server.
After entering the four parameters, click OK.
In the dialog box that appears, enter the Windows username and password of the admin running the project, then click OK.
The Server Consolidation project will run at the scheduled time.
