F.0 Installing the NMS Board

WARNING:The CG 6565 and CG 6060 board is shipped in a protective anti-static container. Leave the board in its container until you are ready to install it. Handle the board carefully and hold it only by its edges and avoid touching its circuitry. NMS recommends that you wear an anti-static wrist strap connected to a good earth ground whenever you handle the board.

  1. Ensure that your computer meets the systems requirements below:

    • A chassis with an available PCI bus slot with 5.0 V and 3.3 V of supplied power.

    • 32-bit SUSEĀ® Linux 10 SP1 kernel version 2.6.16.46-0.12

  2. Power down the chassis and disconnect it from the power source.

  3. Remove the cover and set it aside.

  4. If you are installing more than one board, configure the two boards that are at the ends for H.100 bus termination. This is also a good time to configure the boards for PCI mode or PCI-X mode. This depends on the PCI slots in your chassis. Detailed instructions for both H.100 termination and PCI, PCI-X mode configurations are provided.

  5. Arrange the CG boards in adjacent PCI bus slots. Make sure each board's PCI bus connector is seated securely in a slot.

  6. Secure the end bracket on the boards to the chassis.

  7. If you have multiple CG boards, connect the H.100 bus cable to each of the CG boards.

  8. Replace the cover and connect the computer to its power source.

  9. Skip this step if your conference bridge only supports IP clients. If you have installed CG6565/64,connect the mini RJ21 cable to the back of the CG6565/64 and the other end to the SEP panel to gain access to the 8 T1 or E1 trunks.
