Device Naming Template

The Device Naming Template panel lets you determine how registered devices are named. The naming template is applied whenever a device is registered manually or through a registration rule.

To create the template:

  1. If you are setting a blackout schedule for a device folder, click Override settings to activate the Device Naming Template panel.

  2. Click Variables icon, then select the machine variable you want to use.

    You can add multiple variables. Avoid spaces in your naming template, because spaces must be escaped when using the command line utilities. For example, use ${HostName}-${OS} rather than ${HostName} ${OS}.

  3. Click Apply to save the settings.
