HTTP Proxy Settings

The HTTP Proxy Settings panel lets you define proxy servers you want to use. ZENworks does not provide proxy servers. You must install proxy servers separately.

A proxy server lets a device connect indirectly to a ZENworks Server through the proxy server. The device’s ZENworks Adaptive Agent connects to the proxy server, then requests resources from a ZENworks Server. The proxy provides the resource either by connecting to the ZENworks Server or by serving it from a cache.

To define a proxy server:

  1. Click Add to display the Configure HTTP Proxy Settings dialog box.

  2. Fill in the following fields:

    Proxy Address: Specify the IP address of the proxy server.

    Port: Specify the port number on which the proxy server is listening.

    Network Segment: Specify the IP addresses of the devices where you want the proxy server to redirect a ZENworks Server. You must specify the range or IP addresses using CIDR (Classless Inter-Domain Routing) notation. With CIDR, the dotted decimal portion of the IP address is interpreted as a 32-bit binary number that has been broken into four 8-bit bytes. The number following the slash (/n) is the prefix length, which is the number of shared initial bits, counting from the left side of the address. The /n number can range from 0 to 32, with 8, 16, 24, and 32 being commonly used numbers. Examples:

    123.45.67.12/16: Specifies all IP addresses that start with 123.45.

    123.45.67.12/24: Specifies all IP addresses that start with 123.45.67.
