The Edit Imaging Work page allows you to view all images that have been recently applied to the selected device, and the image that is currently assigned (known as its “effective” image).
To edit a server’s or workstation’s Preboot Services work:
In ZENworks Control Center, click Devices in the left pane to display the Devices panel in the Managed tab.
In the Name column, click Servers or Workstations to display the devices.
Click a device.
The Summary tab should display. If not, select it.
In the Imaging Work section, click Advanced to start the Edit Imaging Work Wizard:
In the Imaging Work section, select one of the following from the drop-down list for the Scheduled Work field:
Do Nothing: Review the image files:
The Applied Image Files section displays the image files most recently applied to the device.
Apply Assigned Imaging Bundle: Select a bundle in the Bundle field:
Bundle: Select or specify the bundle. Its bundle name, folder, and description are displayed.
The Bundle field displays the currently effective bundle. You can select the bundle to apply from the drop-down list, which changes the effective bundle for the device, then click OK.
If you’ve assigned a ZENworks Image bundle to a device, do the following:
Click the Devices tab.
Click Servers or Workstations.
Select the check box next to the device to which you assigned the bundle.
Click Action > Apply Assigned Imaging Bundle.
The next time the device boots, or when you manually apply a Preboot bundle (such as from a ZENworks imaging CD or DVD), the selected bundle is applied.
IMPORTANT:In order to have bundles to select, the administrator user that you are logged in as must have rights to modify devices and to apply bundles. For more information on administrator rights, see Rights Descriptions
in the ZENworks 11 SP4 Administrator Accounts and Rights Reference.
NOTE:
When multiple bundles are assigned, only the first bundle in the Bundle drop-down list is applied to the device.
You can change the effective bundle assignment to the device by altering the order of the bundles in the Bundle drop-down list.
Apply Rule-Based Imaging Bundle: This assigns the device to be imaged if it matches any Preboot bundle that is based on rules.
Take an Image: Fill in the fields:
Image Format: Select the format of the image to be applied.
Server and Path of New Image File: Browse for or enter the full path to where you want the image file saved. This option is displayed only for the ZENworks Image format.
Shared Network Path for Image File: Specify the shared-network path where you want to save the .wim or .gho files. The directory must be a Windows share or a Linux CIFS or SMB share, and you must have the Write permission to it. If the Novell File Upload extension is not installed on the device, you must install it before you can browse to and upload the file. This option is displayed only for the Windows Imaging Format (.wim).
Image Filename Specify the filename to save the .wim or .gho file. This option is displayed only for the Windows Imaging Format (.wim) and Ghost Imaging Format (.gho).
Network Credential: Click to browse for and select the network credentials to be used for accessing the device that has .wim or (.gho) files. This option is displayed only for the Windows Imaging Format (.wim) and Ghost Imaging Format (.gho).
Image Compression: Select one:
Balanced: Automatically balances compression between an average of the reimaging speed and the available disk space for the image file. This option is displayed only for the ZENworks Image format
None: This option is displayed only for the Windows Imaging format (.wim) and Ghost Imaging Format (.gho).
Optimize for Speed: Optimizes the compression to allow for the fastest reimaging time. Use this option if CPU speed is an issue. By default, this option is selected.
Optimize for Space: Optimizes the compression to minimize the image file’s size to conserve disk space. This can cause reimaging to take longer.
Imaging Bundle: To create a new image bundle, select the Create an Image Bundle option and configure the following options
Name: Provide a name for the bundle. The bundle name must be different than the name of any other item (bundle, group, folder, and so forth) that resides in the same folder. The name you provide displays in ZENworks Control Center and the ZENworks Adaptive Agent (on managed devices).
Destination Folder: Type the name or browse to the ZENworks Control Center folder where you want the bundle to reside. The default is /bundles, but you can create additional folders to organize your bundles.
Description: Provide a short description of the bundle's contents. This description displays in ZENworks Control Center and in the ZENworks Adaptive Agent.
The image is taken the next time the device boots, or when you manually apply a Preboot bundle, such as from a ZENworks imaging CD or DVD.
Click OK to exit the wizard.
Your changes should be displayed in the Imaging Work panel for the device.
