For additional information on the ZENworks Edition and for upgrade options, visit the AdminStudio Web site.
The Process Assistant provides a guided approach to the packaging, customization, conflict resolution, testing, and deployment hand-off process. It provides assistance on where to begin, based on the type of package.
You can use the Distribution Wizard to prepare a package (and any associated transforms) for distribution to a ZENworks desktop application or a ZENworks server. Also, Repackager supports the conversion of a Novell ZENworks .axt/.aot file to a Windows Installer .msi package.
The Distribution Wizard now provides enhanced LANDesk support.
The Distribution Wizard now supports ManageSoft deployment.
AdminStudio 6.0 includes the Windows portion of InstallShield X, including: Windows Installer .msi 3.0 support, the ability to save a current project using an older schema, VBscript editing enhancements, transform editing capabilities to match Tuner, a Find function in the Files view, and Palm support.
AdminStudio 6.0 Professional Edition can convert InstallScript .msi to Basic .msi so they can be managed more effectively in an enterprise environment.
The ConflictSolver Process Assistant provides a high-level interface providing a guided approach to testing and conflict-resolving packages.
The Predeployment Test tool allows system administrators to determine if an MSI package will succeed or fail when it is installed in production, and hence help reduce the likelihood of deployment failures. Not only will it find issues with disk space, install conditions, and similar items, but it also checks for additional issues including conflicts with MSI packages already on the system.
AdminStudio now offers a Web interface version of the SMS Console (similar to the Software Distribution component of InstallShield AMS 2.0). Users can prepare an application for distribution through SMS, then target and schedule its delivery.
You can now create reports that contain information about all elements of a package including the Package Report {including summary, extended attributes, validation, conflict, related patches, and patch impacts information}, the File Report {including summary and file information}, and the Registry Report {including summary and registry information}. This allows you to quickly create a summary of packages for analysis or archival purposes.
You can now retain data from validation and other ConflictSolver tests. This allows you to return to previous test data for further analysis.
Packagers can now drop off items in a defined folder which will be regularly scanned by AdminStudio. The items AdminStudio finds there will be automatically imported into the Application Catalog. This feature streamlines the process of adding new or modified packages to the Application Catalog.
You can now scan for file dependencies of an application in the Application Catalog, and can include the dependencies in a conflict analysis. This allows you to test for conflicts at a deeper level, enhancing test results and leading to more reliable packages.
You now have the option of maintaining the AdminStudio Application Catalog in an Oracle database.
Several of ConflictSolver's Application Conflict Evaluators (ACEs) (7, 12, 23, and 24) were improved. Also, the ACE output has been consolidated and summarized output is included in the report.
