Configuring Job-Owner Notification

Job-owner notification can be configured for specific print jobs or for printer configurations. This section provides procedures for each method.


Notification for Specific Print Jobs

Configuring notification for a specific print job can be done as follows.

  1. From the main Printer Control view of the printer's Details page, select Jobs/Job List.

    The Job List for that printer appears, showing all jobs currently scheduled for processing.

  2. (Conditional) If you wish to see a list of jobs being retained and not currently scheduled for processing, click Show Retained Jobs.

  3. Click Options, and select Configurations from the drop-down list.

    The Job Configurations tab window appears.

  4. Click Notification.

    The Notification tab dialog appears.

  5. Mark the notification methods and events you want.

Notification for a Configuration

The following procedure explains how to configure job-owner notification by modifying an existing configuration. You can also configure job-owner notification when creating a new configuration.

  1. In NetWare® Administrator, select the printer that you want to configure.

    The NDPS Printer Details window appears.

  2. Click the Configuration button.

    The Configuration dialog appears. The Printer Configurations window lists the Default Printer Configuration and any other configurations that have been created for this printer in NetWare Administrator.

  3. Highlight the configuration you want to modify and click Modify.

    The Printer Defaults dialog appears, showing General, Job Holds, and Notification configuration tabs.

  4. Click the Notification tab.

    The Notification dialog appears, displaying an icon for each notification method currently loaded.

  5. Click the icon representing the method you want to use.

  6. Mark the notification methods and events you want.

    Use the online help available at that screen for detailed information on the available notification options.

  7. Click OK at the Printer Configuration dialog.

    The Configuration view for the NDPS Printer Details page appears with the new configuration listed.

  8. Click OK at the NDPS Printer Details dialog.

    Your changes will not be saved until you have done this. A user can now install this printer with this configuration option selected.
