After you start the server, the following screens are available at the server console by default.
System Console. (Item 1 on Current Screen list) Lets you load or unload any NLMTM programs to the server, execute console commands, change SET parameter values, and view current messages sent to the server.
Logger Screen. (Item 2 on the Current Screen list) Lets you view most of the information that used to be displayed on the System Console screen. This screen is scrollable and can be saved to a file. To access a list of commands for scrolling and saving to a file, press F1 while viewing the Logger screen.
X Server -- Graphical Console. Lets you access and run the Java applications listed. To access the list, click Novell on the Graphical console.
Some NLM programs have console screens associated with them. If you load one of these NLM programs, then the console screens associated with it are automatically active at the server console.
To view which screens are active at the server console, press Ctrl+Esc on the server keyboard. A numbered list of active console screens is displayed. Enter the number for the screen you want to access.
To cycle through other console screens, press Alt+Esc on the server keyboard, and then continue to hold Alt down and tap Esc until the screen you want to access is displayed. Use the title bar at the top of the screen for navigation. When the X Server -- Graphical Console is displayed, you must release the keys and start over.
Another screen that is available at the server is the Emergency Console. This console can be useful when the server console seems to hang. On the Emergency console, you can shut down the server and exit to DOS, abort a volume mount, or open a new console screen to issue necessary commands such as unloading modules.
To access the Emergency Console, press Ctrl+Alt+Esc on the server keyboard. From this console you can do the following:
