This Planning section will prepare you to set up Novell^® Storage Services^TM (NSS) for NetWare^® 5 and includes a simple example of exactly how a storage group and NSS volume are created.

Knowing how you want to configure NSS before configuration is very important. Not only will you save time, but following a plan can help you avoid having to make changes later.

If you want NetWare volumes to become NSS volumes, you can convert your NetWare volumes to NSS volumes using In-Place Upgrade. See Plan for In-Place Upgrade.
