When you install GroupWise agents or applications on a server where a firewall is enabled, you must ensure that the firewall is configured to allow communication on the ports used by the GroupWise agents and applications on the server.
The following procedure is an example of how to open ports through a firewall on Open Enterprise Server (OES). The exact procedure for your specific version of OES might be slightly different.
In YaST, click Security and Users > Firewall.
In the left panel, click Allowed Services.
(Conditional) To open ports for the GWIA:
In the Service to Allow drop-down list, select IMAP Server (for a non-secure IMAP connection), and then click Add.
In the Service to Allow drop-down list, select IMAPS Server (for a secure SSL IMAP connection), and then click Add.
In the Service to Allow drop-down list, click LDAP Server (for a non-secure LDAP connection), and then click Add.
In the Service to Allow drop-down list, click LDAPS Server (for a secure LDAP connection), and then click Add.
In the Service to Allow drop-down list, click Mail Server, and then click Add.
In the Service to Allow drop-down list, click POP3 Server (for a non-secure POP3 connection), and then click Add.
In the Service to Allow drop-down list, click POP3S Server (for a secure POP3 connection), and then click Add.
(Conditional) To open ports for the other GroupWise agents:
Click Advanced.
In the TCP Ports field, list the port numbers, in a space-delimited list, for the GroupWise agents on this server, as provided in GroupWise Port Numbers.
Click OK.
(Conditional) To open the port for Samba, so that the GroupWise Administration Console can access remote restore areas and document storage areas:
In the Service to Allow drop-down list, click Samba Server, and then click Add.
After you have opened all the ports that GroupWise components need to communicate through on this server, click Next.
Review the list of services and ports that you have configured for this server, and then click Accept.
The following procedure is an example of how to open ports through a firewall on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES). The exact procedure for your specific version of SLES might be slightly different.
In YaST, click Security and Users > Firewall.
In the left panel, click Allowed Services.
(Conditional) To open ports for the GroupWise agents and applications:
Click Advanced.
In the TCP Ports field, list the port numbers, in a space-delimited list, for the GroupWise agents and applications on this server, as provided in GroupWise Port Numbers.
Click OK.
(Conditional) To open ports for Samba, so that the GroupWise Administration Console can access remote restore areas and document storage areas:
In the Service to Allow drop-down list, select Samba Client, and then click Add.
In the Service to Allow drop-down list, click Samba Server, and then click Add.
After you have opened all the ports that GroupWise components need to communicate through on this server, click Next, and then click Finish.
The following procedure is an example of how to open ports through a firewall on Windows Server. The exact procedure for your specific version of Windows Server might be slightly different.
On the Start menu, click Control Panel, and then under System and Security, click Check firewall status.
In the left panel, click Advanced Settings to open Windows Firewall with Advanced Security.
In the left panel, click Inbound Rules.
Click Action > New Rule.
Select Port, and then click Next.
Ensure that TCP is selected.
In the Specific local ports field, list the port numbers in a comma-delimited list for the GroupWise agents and applications on this server, as provided in this appendix, and then click Next.
Accept the default of Allow the connection, and then click Next.
Accept the default for when the rule applies, or change it depending on your security preferences for the GroupWise agents and applications, and then click Next.
In the Name field, specify a unique name for this set of port numbers, such as GroupWise Ports, and then click Finish.
