Before you start the Exchange Gateway, make sure that it has network access to the following locations:
The GroupWise domain directory and subdirectories where you installed the gateway files. The gateway requires Read, Write, Create, Erase, Modify, and File Scan rights.
The Exchange server. You should have already provided access when you configured the Exchange side of the gateway, as described in Section 5.0, Configuring the Exchange Side of the Exchange Gateway.
Follow the instructions for the installation method you chose for the Exchange Gateway (worksheet item 7):
IMPORTANT:After you start the gateway, stop and then start the MTAs in the GroupWise system. This establishes the links to the non-GroupWise domain that represents the Exchange system.
At the Windows server where you installed the Exchange Gateway, click

.When running as an application, the Exchange Gateway server console appears on the server while it is running. For instructions on interpreting the information displayed on the Exchange Gateway server console, and for information about other monitoring alternatives, see Section 9.0, Monitoring the Exchange Gateway.
Stop and then start the MTAs in the GroupWise system.
This establishes the links to the non-GroupWise domain that represents the Exchange system.
After the Exchange Gateway has started successfully and the links between systems have been established, skip to Section 8.0, Configuring the Exchange Gateway.
At the Windows server where you installed the Exchange Gateway, click

.In the alphabetical list of services, the name of the Exchange Gateway service starts with the name of the domain where the gateway is installed, followed by the name of the gateway itself, followed by Service. For example, if the domain is named Connector and the gateway is named Exchange, then the name of the service is ConnectorExchangeService.
Select the gateway service, then click
.When running as a service, the Exchange Gateway does not have a console on the server where it is running. However, you can monitor it in other ways, as described in Section 9.0, Monitoring the Exchange Gateway.
Stop and then start the MTAs in the GroupWise system.
