3.4 Enabling DFS Junction Support for CIFS

Novell CIFS for OES 2 SP2 Linux or later supports DFS junctions, but you must enable DFS support and configure it. By default, DFS junction support is disabled.

3.4.1 Limitations

  • Junctions on NetWare cannot point to volumes in Linux and vice versa. That is, Novell CIFS does not support junctions that point across platforms.

  • Unicode must be enabled. By default, Unicode is enabled on your Linux servers.

  • Only CIFS shares are enabled with DFS support.

3.4.2 Enabling DFS Support CIFS

For Novell CIFS on OES 2 Linux servers, you can map to CIFS shares using either the IP address or server name. Junctions that point to subdirectories are now supported.

  1. In iManager, click File Protocols > CIFS.

  2. Browse to locate and select the Linux server you want to manage.

    For instructions, see Section 8.1.4, Selecting a Server to Manage.

  3. On the Server properties page, select the Distributed File Services (DFS) Support check box to enable DFS for CIFS on the selected server.

  4. Click OK to save the setting.
