A subscription update is the process that Patch Management runs to download new patch content, patch definitions, and other files for Patch Management.
By default, subscription updates occur once daily at a schedule time. However, you can also run a subscription update immediately by clicking from Subscription Service Settings.
Subscription Updates perform the following actions:

Downloads any updated information about your Patch Management license information (such as if you purchased additional licenses). |

Downloads an updated list of patches available for download from the cloud. |

Downloads any new critical patch bundles if you have the option(s) enabled. |
