View Builder
In Server Management, a mechanism through which you can create a view to display information from the agents that have instrumented SNMP MIBs and traps sent by the agent to the management site server.

Viewing window
In Server Management, a representation of the managed server or workstation desktop. It is displayed on the management console when the remote operator initiates a Remote Management session.

virtual server
In Desktop Management and Server Management, a logical server, rather than a physical node, to which cluster-enabled shared volumes are tied.
VLAN
Virtual LAN.
A local area network with a definition that maps workstations on some basis other than geographic location. For example, by department, type of user, or primary application.
volatile setting
In Desktop Management, part of the Windows Group Policy. The volatile setting indicates that the original local Group policy settings will be restored when the user logs out (user settings are restored) or when the system shuts down (workstation settings are restored).

volume
In Desktop Management, a physical amount of hard disk storage space, fixed in size, that is the highest level in the NetWare®directory structure. Each volume is also a Volume object in the Novell eDirectoryTM tree.
